Baggage (A Poem)

(This is the last one for today. You might be able to discern that I’m going through a bunch of old email containing things I’d intended to post but never got around to doing it. This one is also from the RecycledShelties Yahoo group. The author is unknown.)

Now that I’m home, bathed, settled and fed,
All [...]

Two Lost Souls (A Christmas Story)

(I have shamelessly copied this from the RecycledShelties Yahoo group. The story is by Shelly Guidotti, whom I hope will not object to my giving it a wider audience. I should have posted this, oh, about 3 months ago…)

Two Lost Souls
by Shelly Guidotti

“Did you hear that?” the old dog shouted.

They all ran to the [...]

Rescue Dogs: Dazzlers or Duds?

Considering a pet from rescue? Note to adopters

Lassie, Cleo, Rin Tin Tin, and Toto don’t show up in rescue. We don’t get the elegantly coiffed, classically beautiful, completely trained, perfectly behaved dog. We get the leftovers. Dogs that other people have incompetently bred, inadequately socialized, ineffectively “trained,” and badly treated. Most [...]

IDIOT SIGHTING

We had to have the garage door repaired. The Sears repairman told us that one of our problems was that we did not have a “large” enough motor on the opener. I thought for a minute, and said that we had the largest one Sears made at that time, a 1/2 horsepower. [...]

Update on Buffy, wonderful Buffy

Buffy, who we began fostering on Valentine’s Day, has proven that the human heart has no limit in its ability to love. He is  a delightful Sheltie;.  It tickles me to come home from work and hear him excitedly barking before I even open my car door.  He had a bad bout of diarrhea the [...]

Stevie Nicks Gets a Forever Dad!

We got a call from a gentleman named Mark, in Nevada, who was working with Sheltie Rescue in Nevada, and Dixie, in particular. They hadn’t been able to come up with a female adult who’d be a good fit for him and for his senior mixed female and had suggested he contact us.

Mark [...]

Buffy's First Day in Ogden Foster Home

We met Buffy yesterday at the headquarters for Utah Sheltie Rescue. He is a handsome 11 year old sable. Buffy has very good social skills and has fit in nicely with our two Shelties and two cats. He respects the boundaries our dogs have set with him and there is no fussing among them. We [...]

Quick Update on Nash and Missy

A few days ago, we reported the fact that Nash and Missy were adopted together by a couple from St. George, UT. Barbara has spoken with them at least once, possibly a couple of times, but we also got the following from them in email:

Hi, that was a very nice blog on the kids. They [...]
