(Sponsored Post) I Signed Up For SocialSpark!

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

With the help of some of my friends (thanks, Marie and Cynthia!), I discovered SocialSpark, an organization (company?) that allows one to sign up for opportunities to blog and get compensated for it. Socialspark_small There are a number of such web sites that offer similar opportunities, but one thing I like about this one (and about others apparently owned by the same umbrella group, named Izea) is their strict policy of disclosure. Every blog post for which they compensate the write must be clearly identified as a sponsored post; alternatively, the blog’s disclosure page (ours is here) can state clearly that there will be sponsored posts on the blog. What’s more, they require that the blog have plenty of unsponsored posts, so its readers don’t get bogged down by advertising content.

It’s not completely clear whether Sheltie Rescue of Utah will make enough money through this program to justify spending our scarce time on it, but I think it’s worth a try. It was very easy to sign up for the program (it took me about 5 minutes, including a quick read through their Terms of Service and Code of Ethics). Of course, they want to know that they’re getting a blog worth reading, so this blog will have to be approved before they’ll pay us…even for this post! I’m pretty confident that that’ll happen though, because we’ve got some reasonable content and lots of great commenters.
