Sheltie Rescue of Utah now on FACEBOOK

I think Barbara & Jim of Sheltie Rescue of Utah (SRU) have found a, ‘GENIE in a BOTTLE’ or something!  Wishes are coming true, left and right:

1st) A replacement Lab Top — not only one but TWO — fantastic gifts from Howard in Houston & Steve in Florida.

2nd) In one of our email communication with Barbara, she had just mentioned that she ’WISHED’ for SRU to have a presence on Facebook (FB)…so here it is http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Sheltie-Rescue-of-Utah/113361445362802?ref=ts  (if this doesn’t work search FB for Sheltie Rescue of Utah)

3rd) ????? Still a Mystery — stay tuned to find out what else has been wished for and fulfilled by this ‘GENIE in a BOTTLE’!  Make sure it is a good one Barbara, for the myth says you only have 3 wishes!

On this day..

  • Our long-time readers know that Barbara and I have a tough time doing all of the things that have to be done just running Sheltie Rescue of Utah, in addition to trying to blog about somewhat-interesting subjects at not-too-lengthy intervals and running the Sheltie Rescue Mall for some additional rescue income. Several of you (Julene especially!) had suggested that SRU should have a FaceBook presence, as well as a Twitter presence…and probably other relevant social media as well. But we just don’t have the cycles to do it all (especially when there’s a learning curve involved…).

We are enormously grateful to Patti and De Boys for stepping in so enthusiastically and helpfully as they have done. They set up the ability for SRU to get some income from iGive, and now we have a FaceBook presence that’s already garnered 53 fans!

Some of you have donated money to SRU in amounts ranging from small to enormous, and we deeply appreciate every penny. Others of you have donated in-kind goods (the recent donation of two laptops was especially timely), your time (organizing the huge raffle that will be held next week at the Beehive Cluster is just one example), and your posts and comments in this blog. All these things help us and truly make us feel very humble in the light of your care and generosity.

Thanks, Patti, and thanks to all of you!

OK…must have missed something…What is Beehive Cluster?

  • Sorry…I sometimes forget that not everybody lives in the SLC area. A “cluster” is a collection of dog shows and/or trials held in a small geographical area and a small window of time. In this case, the Beehive Cluster is held every year at the Salt Lake Equestrian Center in South Jordan, UT, over a span of about 4 days. This year, the dates are May 6, 7, 8, and 9. The cluster includes a number of dog shows: the Intermounntain Kennel Club all-breed dog show and obedience trial, the Utah Valley Kennel Club all-breed dog show and obedience trial, the Salt Lake Doberman Pinscher Club specialty, the Utah Collie Club specialty, the Bulldog Club of Utah specialty, and (most relevantly to us) the Utah Shetland Sheepdog Association specialty. Actually, USSA will hold two specialties on Thursday May 6, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon.
