Nell needs a one level foster or adopting home where she will be safe in the house and in the yard. This is a picture of Nell from this past Saturday. She’s definitely up and she’s moving around much easier than when she first arrived. She was found as [...]
This beautiful boy was brought to the West Valley shelter by someone who said he found him along with one or two cats just abandoned. Upon further investigation the West Valley folks found out that Gabe was registered to the man’s wife and was trying to avoid the drop-off fee.
We don’t know why he was [...]
Darby arrived here from Salt Lake City Humane Society when they called us to take him and offload them. He has unusual coloring in that he’s a mahogany sable and white with merling which is the grey and white coloring seen on merles. We call him a sable merle in terms of his colors. Darby [...]
Two Rough Collies, one male and one female were found as strays in two different locations in Ephraim. When brought together at the dog shelter it was apparent that they knew each other. We can’t help but wonder if they know Nell who was found as a stray, at around the same time, in Salt [...]
We have a new boy, Snickers, who arrived here about a week ago from the Humane Society. They called us to say they had a 13 year old Collie – they know we’ll take in Collies. He weighs in just under 50lbs, very thin, weak hips but x-rays show good hip joints and bad spine. [...]
Here’s a 9 minute video with most of the Sheltie-kids we have here and I think I’ve gotten in all the new kids except for the two girls who arrived yesterday. I think I’m a bit rusty on the video’ing so please bear with this effort… – Barbara
Well, we’re finally back from our trip. As planned, we spent two days driving to Louisiana to spend three days with Jim’s mother, who’s 95 years old. We left there on 31 July and drove the remaining 850 miles to Clearwater Beach, FL in one longish day. The next 19 days were spent doing a [...]
I’m writing this post several days after everything has returned to normal, in part because I was a bit emotional about the situation while it was in progress.
A couple of weeks ago, big Sheltie boy Copper (who is as big as a largish Collie and deaf) was having bloody diarrhea. It seemed consistent with giardiasis, [...]
I’ve only got a couple of minutes, but I wanted to tell y’all about this new boy who came into SRU today. He’s a lovely, if slightly short-legged, blue merle, about two years old, named Schuyler (well, maybe it’s spelled “Skyler”…that’s how it’s pronounced, anyway). His family very reluctantly turned him over to us because [...]
One of the more recent arrivals in our program is Lucky, a significantly oversized sable-and-white Sheltie with an incredible attitude and great personality. Lucky’s biggest negative point is his barkiness, but he barks mostly out of the sheer joy of being alive and seeing people he likes.
Lucky came to us about three weeks ago (while [...]
