Abby’s Going Sailing

Near the end of July, we’re going to take a trip to Florida to visit our 40-foot sailboat, Dream SeQuel. For a variety of reasons, we’ve decided that we’re going to drive! It’s “only” 2400 or 2500 miles The major reason we’re driving is that renting a car for three weeks while we’re [...]

Sleeping Arrangements

For a number of weeks now, Barbara and I have been sleeping on separate floors of our 3-story house. Most of the time, she sleeps on the couch in the family room on the main floor, while I (if I’m not out of town somewhere) usually sleep in the bedroom on the upper floor. We [...]

A Quick Update

Well, we’ve been back from the National for two weeks (plus most of today) and I haven’t had time to blog. I still don’t but I really should let you guys know some of what’s going on.

THE NATIONAL

I spent the first entire week home working on the financial paperwork for the National Rescue [...]

2010 ASSA National Post-Mortem

Whew!

The 2010 ASSA National Shetland Sheepdog Specialty dog show is over and we’re back at home. Actually, it was over almost a week ago and we got home very late Sunday night, 21 March, after a long but beautiful drive home from Tucson on mostly 2-lane blacktop roads. We’ve spent this week doing a bunch [...]

Horrible Week, Sort Of

Just a brief report from the 2010 ASSA National in Tucson, AZ (USA)…

First, sales are down. Horribly down. We’re just over 50% of the sales we normally have by this time (end of Thursday). Barbara and I would be better off financially if we’d just stayed home

Second, some time yesterday between 2:00 PM [...]

It’s Quiet…Except for the Panicking

We’ll blog more about the details later, but I wanted to tell our readers that we set some kind of new record last week. In one week, we placed for adoption six (6) dogs! It happened so fast that I found myself quietly crying one evening because I couldn’t remember all the details and I [...]

Here They Come. Again.

Well, I guess we have just gotten too comfortable, loafing along with a mere 15 dogs in the house. But that’s all about to change, and soon…

In the last few days, it seems like every time I overhear Barbara talking on the phone, it’s about yet another incoming rescue Sheltie. Here are the dogs about [...]

Minor Updates

I have just a few minutes to spare right now, so I thought I’d muse a little bit.

Dali’s still here with us. The person who was going to come visit her found her charming, but hadn’t filled out an adoption application yet, so we couldn’t start any official paperwork. They still haven’t filled out the [...]

Another quick update

Lessee…

Barbara checked into the hospital at about 1:30PM on Monday of this week for her shoulder replacement surgery. She walked out of the hospital at about 10:00AM on Wednesday to come home. She’s irrepressible–I keep catching her carrying bags of dog food, poop-scooping in the back yard, so many things she shouldn’t really be doing. [...]

The Sailor Home From the Sea

I’m glad that MandaBear posted the other day, ’cause it would otherwise be about a month since the previous post. Can you tell that we’ve been overwhelmingly busy?

A brief update (very brief, ’cause my day job is screaming my name):

I was in Clearwater Beach, Florida for 28 days, working on our sailboat. Barbara joined me [...]
