New Kids Tracy, Bridger, Lucy, Lexi, Camera-Shy Molly (Unseen) and More!

We are so overloaded!  We have several youngsters who are just under or just over a year of age.  We have three kids who need their potty training shaped up.  But they are each such wonderful kids…  – Barbara

Arthritic Bailey and Asocial Shelly Become Playmates!

Bailey’s arthritis is so bad that she can barely walk.  When Bailey does walk, it’s with a very lopsided gait.

Shelly has always had weird relationships with other Shelties here…never really friendly, frequently unfriendly.

But Shelly has decided that she really likes Bailey which in itself is just wonderful!  Check out how they play together and decide [...]

Pumpkin – Ancient but Beautiful – Getting Cutting Edge Cancer Treatment. This is a great story.

Indomitable

by Eva Saks on 07/09/11

To some, courage is a thousand men landing on a distant beach. To others, courage is a mother. To me, courage is a small brown dog soldiering on despite every obstacle known to dog and man.
Pumpkin is bravery personified. I pulled this dauntless 14-year old Sheltie from LA’s East Valley kill [...]

Wonderful Adoption Tonight for 2 Collies from Ephraim – Sugar and Rocky!

On Wednesday of last week I got a call that these two Collies were in danger because the shelter they were in, in Ephraim was way overloaded.  Nearby rescue [...]

Two Collies from Ephraim – One’s a Color-Headed White Female!

Two Rough Collies, one male and one female were found as strays in two different locations in Ephraim.  When brought together at the dog shelter it was apparent that they knew each other.  We can’t help but wonder if they know Nell who was found as a stray, at around the same time, in Salt [...]

Still Calculating

No, there’s nothing really new to report, but I haven’t blogged in a few days. I’ve been spending my time catching up with my absurdly overwhelming day job, plus trying to make sense of the financial and inventory data that we brought back from the National.

Barbara, on the other hand, spent one day recovering from [...]

More About the National

Well, I started trying to write a brief update on Friday (I think), but the nearly-useless wireless networking available on the show site just made it impossible to finish. Somewhere on this blog site, not visible to you, is a draft of that effort, but it’s so out of date that I thought I should [...]

A New Rainbow Bridge Story

Many of you are probably aware of the story-cum -poem about the Rainbow Bridge. In my daily digest of messages from the national Sheltie Rescue list was this new version of the story. To the best of my knowledge, the author is a fellow named Benny Archuleta, who is the president of The Dachshund Rescue [...]
